A gem in the Western Cape - Kalk Bay
Low season in the Cape has its advantages. Accommodation is reasonable, there is availability in the restaurants and, if you are lucky, you are spoiled with windstil, sunny days.
I recently spent 3 nights in Kalk Bay and experienced all of the above. Away from Cape Town city centre and the Waterfront, toward Cape Point lies this beautiful little village that reminds me so much of Europe. Houses are small and on top of each other as space is limited. The bluest of Atlantic Ocean spreads out in front of you and yes, the whales come into the bay to show off. Just wonderful.
There is a lovely walkway from Muizenberg to Kalk Bay, taking you past at least 3 tidal pools. People are walking their dogs and moms and children are out and about. Oh, and the coffee! Just heavenly.
When next you come to SA, make sure you factor in a few nights in this beautiful village!
